EmpowerED

EmpowerED — Geminate Education Partnership Program

Partnering with schools the way health NGOs partner with PHCs, building institutional capacity from inside the classroom.

Program Overview

The Geminate Education Partnership Program (EmpowerED) is Gem'inate's school-embedded partnership model. Inspired by how health NGOs embed into primary healthcare centres, providing training, equipment, capacity, and accountability without replacing existing structures, EmpowerED applies the same philosophy to secondary schools.

Rather than pulling students out of school for external programs, EmpowerED goes in. We work alongside existing school leadership and teachers to strengthen academic outcomes in the areas that matter most: national exam preparation, digital literacy, scholarship access, and ongoing teacher professional development.

The Partnership Model

Health NGOs don't build new clinics; they partner with PHCs, fill capacity gaps, and strengthen existing systems. EmpowerED does the same for education. We embed within partner schools, complement the existing curriculum, and work with school leadership rather than around them.

What EmpowerED Delivers

Exam Preparation

Structured WAEC, NECO, and JAMB preparation programs delivered in-school, bridging the gap between curriculum and actual exam performance.

Scholarship Guidance

Dedicated scholarship identification, application support, and mentoring to help eligible students access tertiary education funding.

Digital Literacy

Practical digital skills training, from basic computer use to information literacy, equipping students for a technology-driven economy.

Teacher Support

Professional development workshops, co-facilitation, and classroom resources that strengthen the capacity of existing school staff.

What EmpowerED Requires

  • School leadership commitment to the partnership: active, not passive participation
  • Dedicated time in the school timetable for EmpowerED-supported sessions
  • A school-based contact or coordinator for day-to-day liaison
  • Willingness to collect and share student performance data for M&E purposes
  • Openness to teacher participation in professional development sessions
  • A minimum cohort of 30 students enrolled in exam preparation track

Growth Phases

EmpowerED is designed to scale deliberately, validating the model before expanding it.

Phase 1

Phase 1 — Pilot

· 1–2 schools

Prove the model. Refine the curriculum and partnership framework. Document what works and what needs adjustment.

Phase 2

Phase 2 — Scale

· 10–20 schools

Expand to proven partners. Build a cohort of EmpowerED-certified schools with measurable exam and scholarship outcomes.

Phase 3

Phase 3 — Nationwide

· 50–100 schools

Formalise the EmpowerED partnership framework as a replicable model. Seek government and institutional endorsement.
